Terra Nova ep 09
Published November 23, 2011 | This weeks episode of Terra Nova was really good. The part were they tell you that people with power never change was really a good plot twist. Even when they manage to go back in time to give humanity a second chance there are people with other ideas. Like taking all the resources of a rich world and pump them “back” to the dead future world. It’s just plain sick! Oh how I love humans, but I guess I’m not any better.

SKYRIM – 5 hours to go
Published November 10, 2011 | Like some people may know. In the Netherlands, Belgium and France you could buy Skyrim 3 days earlier. For xbox and ps3 gamers you could just start playing. The pc gamers on the other hand(me) have to wait for 11/11/11 because Steam does a release date check. Now my brother, who didn’t buy the game is already playing the game because he found a crack and pirated the game. And that makes me angry.
Anyhow, 5 more hours till I can play. I’ll try to capture my first gameplay moments and upload them later on youtube.

This monday they released the first episode of Terra Nova. When they first released a trailer of Terra Nova and I knew what is was about, I was super excited. I’m a big fan of fiction and I also loved the Jurassic Park movies. So I was really excited to see the series and had high expectations.
Basicly Terra Nova begins in a dying world around 2149, we humans destroyed our own home. They made some discoveries about time traveling and manage to create a portal that brings people 65 million years back in time. This how they give humanity a “second chance”.
And this alone is a masterpiece, I mean the idea is perfect but also quite mindfuck if you think about all the possible time traveling theories. In Terra Nova when they go back in time they go to another time line, in that way the “current” future isn’t affected by changes made in the “past”. I had to blink away a manly tear just by thinking of the ideas they use in this show and at some drama moments. I mean, one of the kids has too leave his girlfriend behind in this horrible world where everyone is walking around with re-breathers, while this part was kinda weak as you know nothing of the girl it was a painful thought to leave someone close to you behind in a crappy world like that.
For the episode, I think it started a little vague as you know little about the main characters, I hope we’ll learn more about their past in next episodes. Some things happens and then suddenly, ow hey you’re a doctor, we are gonna send you back in time, ow yeah sure, why not.
I think that part wasn’t as dynamic as it could be. And yeah as the episode goes further you notice some weak moments in the script. But that doesn’t mean that this show isn’t great. I’m not good at reviewing films or shows, I’m only trying to tell how I felt while watching the show. Continue reading
Minecraft 1.9 : Animal breeding
Published September 25, 2011 | Boredom boring post of something you could easily find on other sites.
So, there was already rumor that animal breeding was to be included in the adventure update and this morning Notch tweeted that he was working on animal breeding for Minecraft(while lying in his bed).
Sometime later he posted a screenshot of his progress.
At the moment the method is as followed: When holding food in your hand animals will follow you, when feeding them they enter “love mode” to breed, when two animals are in “love mode” they will make babies. You can probably notice with the hearts above their head that an animal is in love mode. I do hope that they include smaller models of the babies instead of giving birth to adult animals..
Notch also tweeted that he liked the idea of using egg blocks, so that every animals lay an egg and that you have to move it around or do something specific to let it hatch.
We will know more details tomorrow and whether they include it in another pre release or the full 1.9 release.

Unity – car game
Published September 16, 2011 | I was again fooling around in Unity, this time I kinda followed a tutorial for car games. On my own attempt the car physics were fucked up so I copied the car from the tutorial project and made my own map. Then I wanted to adjust some of the physics because the car rolls over when you take a turn, even at low speed. I’m trying to fix that now. When the physics are good I can try to make a small game with clock race or with AI. The AI you see in the example below is from the tutorial project, I didn’t scripted it myself. Continue reading
Minecraft 1.8 pre release
Published September 11, 2011 | Yesterday Notch/Jens “leaked” a pre release of 1.8 to calm down all the update hungry players. It still has some bugs but is playable.
Also alot of content is moved to 1.9 due the big amount of new stuff. I miss the small friday updates..
